Late night thoughts

A Poem by MrBooyay
"

You ever get that gut feeling of hopelessness even when things aren't bad? That longing for something extraordinary to show itself?

"
Is there something more than this?
Is there someone else to be taught?
Is there anything left to learn?
Is there any point left in any of this?

Or are we all fooling ourselves?

twenty billion people have already lived,
twenty billion people have done what you do,
twenty billion people means that it's nothing new.

So what's left to be done?
What's left to be said?
What's left to renew?
What's left but death, and the cycle to resume?

Surely there's more,
there has to be more,
there is something more,
There is something more to explore,
to be found and then, in awe, renowned

If this can be my final belief,
that there is something out there,
new to me, new to you, and soon to be
Then let life continue.
For this I will hold hope

I find it somewhat frivolous that so many people have this idea that due to the sheer amount of Human lives that has existed, every single idea has already been thought up. That imagination is only the instinct of your ancestry as all original ideas have come and gone.

Two things to point out, one: if someone else has already made the same endeavor, that only paved the way for your path so that it's easier. Just because one has done; doesn't mean others can't follow.

Two: There's a whole universe out there that won't be explored fully anytime soon. Even then there's the theory of infinite dimensions...meaning all of those need to be explored as well.

Human life will fade away long before ALL ideas become unoriginal.

Honestly I find this poem short sighted but thought provoking. It gives the reader this concept that is entirely interesting, and consuming--however the end denotes an ultimatum that whether or not there is something left to do, is leaning more towards the negative side of the scale.

I like the notions you put forth in the second paragraph: "twenty billion people have already lived,
twenty billion people have done what you do,
twenty billion people means that it's nothing new."

It's very compelling as it causes the reader to realize a new concept, one that the reader probably was unaware of prior to reading.

I enjoyed this poem for causing an inward debate within my own mind. You have good ideas.
