Forgotten queen

Forgotten queen

A Poem by JJ

She looks out the window at the leaves in the fall
Once a beauty queen in life stunning she had it all
That was 80 years ago and now time has passed her bye
Now all she does is reminence and often wonder why
Her children never visit and close friends never call
And all she have to cherish are pictures on the wall
She says to herself I shoulda slowed down and enjoyed my life
Been a better example to my kids and gave that good man a wife
But I was selfish in my ways and put no ones feelings ahead of mine
Now it's 80 years later and She realizes there's not much time
But it's never too late to make things right I gotta make the call
Tell my kids I love them and I'm ready to give my all
Most of my friends I'll never see because their dead and gone
So make things right if you get the chance sincerely beauty queen in the nursing home.

A sad and lonely life depicted here. One thing's for sure, we may all age eventually and we will reap what's sown. I like the lines "But it's never too late to make things right I gotta make the call
Tell my kids I love them and I'm ready to give my all". The message to appreciate what we have and should cherish while we can is very wise. Nice writing :) Penny
