Chapter 2A Chapter by Jinny LeeClementine sat in the chair next to the bed Adria laid on in the nurse's office. She was worried about Adria as she thought about how she had fallen down the stairs. What was happening to her friend? She looked at how peaceful Adria looked right now. It was peaceful within the school, just a moment ago students were bustling trying to find their class. Adria frowns and slowly opens her eyes adjusting to the bright lights. "Where...?" Clementine jumps up and checks her forehead, "Oh thank God you're normal." "What's that suppose to mean?" Adria asks brushing Clementine's hand off. "How long was I out?" "Just about 14 minutes." A deep voice said from one of the beds next to Adria.
Adria looks up sharply, "What are you doing here?" Her voice felt like a cold chill running down your back.
Ronan shrugs and flashes his best smile, "Oh I don't know. Just my shoulder dislocated from catching someone who fell down the stairs. Twice I might add." "Oh. Sorry." Adria's apology felt flat on the ground. Few seconds later Ronan bursted into laughter.
"You still haven't changed that sarcastic tone of yours I see." He held his stomach as he laughed harder. Adria's face turned slightly pink and Clementine had a confused look.
She muttered, "It wasn't sarcastic..." The nurse walked into the room and hit Ronan with a pen she threw. "Quit teasing my patients Blackwood." "Aren't I your patient too?" Ronan pouted.
"No. You're fine. Go to class." The nurse said without a glace as she pointed towards the door.
Ronan sighed and jumped off the bed. He rotated his shoulders several times and flung his cast off. "Well, for certain you gained some weight." Adria's face reddened more but before she replied Ronan was hit with another pen at his face. "Mrs. Hill!" "Don't take your cast off unless you want an broken arm." Ronan smirked, "You sure you would want to lose the school's star linemen?" Mrs. Hill just smiled as she reached towards a book that was thicker than the Harry Potter Series. But by the time she turns around with the book in her hand, Ronan is gone with Adria and Clementine left to stare at the nurse.
Mrs. Hill sighed and put the book down. She then checked Adria's temperature and rotated her right ankle. Adria's face filled with pain and she let out a small cry.
"Well, you're gonna have to take it easy a bit. You sprained your ankle. I'll give you crutches so try not to place so much of your weight on your right ankle, alright?"
"Yes ma'am." Mrs. Hill passes Adria a pair of crutches and instructs her to stand. She then adjusts the length and makes sure its stable.
Mrs. Hill begins to rummage through her desk and pulls out a yellow slip. "Adria you can go to your dorm for today I'll send an email to your teachers." She scribbles Adria's name and gives her the pass. She turns to Clementine, "Honey what's your name, I'll write you a pass to class." "Could I just go with Adria and make sure she doesn't faint or hurt herself more?" Clementine pleaded using her puppy eyes. "Well..." Mrs. Hill looks at Clementine. "Sorry you have to go to class. Your name?"
"Clementine." She huffs and starts to whine. "Can I please stay with her? What if she gets even more hurt? Come on. Please?" "No." The nurse said sternly cutting Clementine's whining. "Here's you pass, go to class. Now!"
Clementine stomped towards the door, stopped and looked at Adria. "Will you be okay?" Adria smiled at her, "I'll be fine." Clementine was certain she heard a quiver in her voice but Adria turned away as if trying to hide it. Well, I have time, Clementine thought as she walked out the door.
"See you soon!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Adria stared at the ceiling recalling her memories of that man she saw at the top of the stairs. She tried to focus and remember but everytime she felt like she could see, it slipped away. After several failed attempts she laid on her bed trying to go to sleep but could not. She felt as if someone was watching her, when she tried to look for the person she would see no one. Adria knew that someone was there, she just couldn't see it, him, or whatever it was. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Clementine hated that her friend wasn't here. She had to introduce herself to the class that already met everyone else alone. Mrs. Kory was nice about her being late but her lesson plans seemed strict. Clementine could already guess that she was gonna fail this class.
She wondered what Adria was doing. Probably sleeping who knows. She was deeply into her own mind that she didn't notice the teacher calling on her until a girl next to her nudged her.
"Huh what?" Clementine said startled.
Mrs. Kory looked directly at her, "Ms. Bloom, I asked if you know how many chambers a heart has."
"Well, my lucky number today is..." Clementine grabbed a fortune cookie from her bag and opened it, "4, 74, 14, 34, 16." She closed her eyes and twiddled her thumb as the whole class watched her. "My answer is 4." The class stare back at Mrs. Kory who looks shocked.
"T..that is correct." She readjusted her collar and cleared her throat. "Next time please pay attention to my lecture." She strutted away back to the front of the room.
Clementine rolled her eyes and looked out towards the window. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While Adria was laying in bed, at that current moment, a shadow stared into the room.
It wasn't a shadow of a man, or anything human. It hid everytime she would look around. It whispered in a deep, hollow voice. "I found you..."! © 2016 Jinny LeeAuthor's Note
