I float upon need

I float upon need

A Poem by jinjahman
"

war and death

"
I float upon need
and greet the old enemy

stumbling over earthen mounds
fellows collapsing, souls risen.

Small brown envelopes in a drawer
in the shape of a widow,
I turn the shade in the window..

'For the Love..
would ya come home'
'I can't - I must fight'
were the immortal words dying out
on black grave ink

I live - I am 'Let be'
the simple truths unexplained
at minds berth

unsteady as a lake
where at night it shimmers-
and by day blinds others with

yellow reflection drowned in mock spirit
beside deathbed charmed by residual

prayer rocking the shawl
and donning inexpressible

grief picked up at the last bastion.
so proud yet lacklustre in black's dominion

I choked on greed and I embraced
the new mist rising, rising.

This is a beautiful piece, stirs a sense of longing and need for independence (or longing for independence) in me at the same time.
The 'Let be' line reminds me of the line from Emperor of Icecream:

Let be be the finale of seem... (What seems to be, is)
