Close My Eyes

Close My Eyes

A Poem by Jim of Earth
"

Our relationships with the world around us

"
Close my eyes, tomorrow flies
specters make their beds
open wide, while memories slide
the weary rest their heads

Brother please, come speak to me
with jukebox record fare
sing in key, let’s play for free
and stay forever there

Lovely she, come speak to me
with oaths I hereby swear
on one knee, I’ll count to three
and lay my insides bare

Close my eyes, forever cries
tearful emotions shed
saddled bride when ardor died
her dreams have all been bled

rival he, my enemy
speak soft thru pride’s beware
pay the fee for thinking spree
with words as light as air

God of thee, come speak to me
thou grace has no compare
comfort be good company
in times of foxhole prayer

Close my eyes, yesterday dies
let’s play new songs instead
lyrics divide, melodies collide
faith leads the way ahead

Closing our eyes sometimes gives us new eyes to see through, but not if we close them while they are still open, to seeing what is right before our eyes.

I enjoyed your poetry.

Thank you for the lovely review, sometimes living is easier with eyes closed.
