How long must I conceal my passion for you?

How long must I conceal my passion for you?

A Poem by Luke Logan

How long must I conceal my passion for you?

When my heart is an open book,

And words of affection fly off the page,

Pleading for you to look?

Nobody thinks that I’m writing to you,

Or for you ‘tis my heart I expose,

Still you usually roll your eyes,

And repeatedly turn up your nose.

What will you do as the summer ends?

When my heart book of words flow like wine?

And the leaves turn colors and fall from the trees,

While I’m begging your soul to be mine.

And later in winter, with wind and snow,

My words whistling their wings like a dove,

Will my rejoicing be ignored?

Or will you accept my love?
