When I am lonely

When I am lonely

A Poem by Luke Logan

When I am lonely and thoughts turn to you,
I think of the hours we rolled in the aisles,
Lamenting at memories far too few,
And days, weeks, and months divided by miles.
Yet, you and I have prospered from the pain,
For fortune has guided us down the same track,
Where love and affection lie lingering in vain,
And passion and romance maintain the attack.
Still, we suffer as most potentials decline,
I yearning for you, as you yearn for me,
While everyone else to our friendship is blind,
To what we both feel, and what we both see.
When I hear your sweet voice my darling friend,
The pain and the sorrow quickly come to an end!
