Soldiers Soul

Soldiers Soul

A Poem by jillianrae

A Soldiers soul is a depth unknown
Baring sights most could not behold
Death has been an open door
When soldiers embrace the ways of war
For his soul and eyes have seen
The toll when the trigger is released
Bullets soaring through the air
Each side feeling  waves of dispair
Guarded by barbed wire hope
That tangles men that charge to death
Left to die and the wilderness is fed
Rounds are fired day and night
A soldiers soul prays for respite
When fire stops and death is done
His soul knows that nobody won
A soldiers scars arent always seen
Some he carries very deep
Toils with his tortured soul
From the secret source of death it holds
A soldiers soul is a depth unknown
