Stars

Stars

A Poem by jillianrae

He finds peace in falling stars
A reminder of home
When around war explodes
He dreams of her and all he has left behind
As he crosses onto battle lines
pulling the trigger and pushing threw
One more night
A few more stars
All this will be over soon
And  in her arms is where he hopes to be
Laying in his world so free
He knows that freedom has its costs
But when he finds her,
He will realize not all is lost
Though men will die and war will rage
Love's true fate will find a way
So as the rockets soar
and bombs and bullets rage some more
He looks at the sky and sees
Stars falling
His only peace
He closes his eyes and makes a wish
That someday she will be his
And as he prays and hopes and waits
She wishes on those same stars
For her true loves fate
So deliver  him
From the gore of war
Bring him home and to her arms
Lets the stars not fall in vain
Bring true the wish
They both have made
