HauntedA Poem by jhed Haunted
In bed, I lie awake Staring at the ceiling Wondering about my mistake And still kept on believing.
I tried to close my eyes And sleep with the wind that hums But all I see are lies And the knife that soon comes.
I held it against my hand Believing I did it on purpose Pulled my hair with a band And left the door unclose.
I open my eyes and sighed Knowing it was all but a stupid lie I know that I almost died But kept on tormenting those alibi.
I was dragged back into the present And was leaving the footsteps of the past Sooner I will be caught by the department And I know this time wouldn’t last.
My hands are smeared with blood Not mine but the man that I killed I washed it and now it felt odd Soon, I know, I will be billed.
Surprised, I hear the sound of the siren Rounding on the corner of the street, I know now, to my family, I’m a burden So now I do not know how to compete.
The memories always kept me haunted Flashing unsettled crimes of the past, Looking back on where it all started Is like a nightmare that will never last.
Now I stand alone in this crowded room With people haunted by the experience of their lives, Every shadow I see, always loom And with the blink of an eye I see them thrive. © 2011 jhedAuthor's Note
