The Perfect One

The Perfect One

I dedicate this poem to my grandpa whom we just lost.

The Perfect One

Once in a while I try to glance at you

And always I remember

I cannot bring you back.

Once in a while I get nostalgic

And reminisce the perfect past

That gives me all the happiness

And madness that will always last

One cup of coffee you always ask

And as I smile that means yes

You know I’ll never deny.

One cup of coffee makes my day

And your smile always makes me wanna stay

How can I be losing you forever?

After all the times we’ve all spent together.

Why do I have to lose you?

Now that it’s all set and done

I’ll never find anyone like you

Because you’re the only Perfect One.

You’ve become like everything

That I’ll never find again

In this reality of bottomless end.

I’m sorry I’ve made some mistakes

I shouldn’t make any promises

I should’ve thought of it first.

Now that you’re gone

It’s so hard for me to accept the fact

No more anyone like you to be found

No more you to crack goodbyes.

But one thing is final

Thursday is a day of sorrow and empathy

And that will be the last day

That I’ll ever see you again

One last look at you

And everything will all be memories.

All of us will surely miss you.

Again I try to glance at you

And always I remember

I cannot bring you back.

you give me all the happiness

And madness that will always last

And yet no matter what

you will always play the role

Of the Perfect One.

One cup of coffee to taste is enough.

A nice sweet tribute to your Grandpa, and good the way you blended in the coffee images. "No more you to crack goodbyes" is one of many fine lines.

A touchingly beautiful poem, the sadness emanates and touches the reader deeply. Loss is hard to bear, but in this piece you deal with it really well.
Thanks for sharing.

This is really sad and heartfelt. Not being able to go back to where we belong, its the song of us all. I really enjoyed this. Well done.

This is so sad! Any loss is hard to bear, and you're right - why should we forget? Sometimes it is holding on that makes you stronger, not letting go. Beautiful flow, and I believe that this poem is certainly 'playing the role of the perfect one' :) Great job, well done :)
