I am THAT kid

I am THAT kid

A Poem by josh healy

I am the kid that has always been left behind,

I am the kid that is forgotten and unloved,

I am the kid that everyone calls emo,

I am the kid that wears black eyeliner,

I am the kid that loves the words "I hate you",

I am the kid that accepts them as love.

I am the kid that you left in a horrible place,

I am the kid that you used for your pleasures,

I am the kid that you convinced you loved,

I am the kid that you took everything from,

I am the kid that everyone always talked about,

I am the kid that everyone used to love,

I am the kid that everyone used to want to be,

I am the kid that everyone came to with their problems,

I am the kid that everyone now ignores,

I am the kid that everyone has forgotten.

I am the kid who’s life you ruined,

I am the kid who’s life everyone forgot,

I am the kid who’s life will never be the same.

I am the kid that thanks you for mapping out my future,

I am the kid that thanks you for showing me this world needs help,

I am the kid that thanks everyone for forgetting me,

I am the kid that thanks everyone for not loving me anymore.

I am the kid that will live a better life,

I am the kid that laughs at those who call me emo,

I am the kid that will prove the world wrong.

This is a fantastic poem. Getting all the pain and anguish out and turning it into the fuel that propels you towards the future that will be brighter because you're fighting for it. I like how you turn these negatives into positives and don't let them pull you down and keep you down.

For anyone who has been through a situation like this, this is a poem worth reading.

If ever someone seemed intent on embodying teen angst you seem to have hit the nail on the head. The style is very unique and your growing extension of the poem was quite the read. Welcome to Writer's Cafe, so far your writing is interesting.
