Every Day

Every Day

A Poem by Shon Harvis

I've written you a message,
On my phone or a letter in my head
Only to erase it every day
As I lay down and cried inside my bed

I've clung to the moments
The ones that made us laugh
Or the times I felt so loved
Where finally I felt whole
You as my other half

Unlike your scent, on the shirt you left behind
Your memory doesn't fade
Standing in the sunlight,
so cold and so frayed
I am damaged but not broken
Thinking of all the words I should have said
Now forever to be unspoken

Am I really left to wonder
What if?
Was it something that I missed?
Did you wait for my words?
Was I the reason we were dismissed?

Oh, if you only knew
Just how my stomach feels
Every time I think of you
How much of my day
The pain of your absence steals
Or the feelings
I cannot erase
When I look to my right
At the spot that was your place

Sweetly suffering from self inflicted pain. To write and erase everyday just hurts. Great write

Great read.
