Never Fade

Never Fade

A Poem by Shon Harvis

If I thought you could hear me,
I would yell it out above the crowd,
at the top of my voice,
calm, crisp, and loud.

I would scream that I love you,
I'd let you know that I care
no matter what you're going through,
I will always be there

But you cannot hear me
To consumed by your pill
As I watch you slowly fade away,
I too, am one it will kill.

Yet unlike your scent on the shirt you left behind,
your memory will never fade,
as I sit here hanging on
To all the good times,
and the promise that I made

If I thought you could hear me
I would yell above the crowd
Above those voices inside you
That keep you bound

If I thought you could feel me,
I would reach out to your hand
If I thought that I could heal you
I would beg together we stand

But my mind cannot think
I can only beg and pray
That God will be the answer
and he will show you the way.

Some say to run
You must let her go
She belongs to the drugs now
She's not the girl that you used to know

If I could believe you were gone
I could let you go
I love you too deeply
To let you die alone
