You

You

A Poem by Shon Harvis

I couldn’t wait to see you
It seemed like it’s been years
Weeks felt like months
And time saw many tears

It was nice to hear your voice
To listen to how you’ve been
To finally press my lips to yours
And feel your touch again

Dreading the final moments
Where the day would come to end
When will I hear your voice?
Or see your face again?

I walked so gingerly beside you
Not knowing what to say
Was too little to late not long ago
Too much, too fast today?

I cannot wait to see you
To hear your beautiful voice
And the hope, that day is longer
To calm this inner noise

I won’t go back to yesterday
I will leave those days behind
But I promise a better future
If you could somehow come back to mine

Beautifully written!
I cannot wait to see you
To hear your beautiful voice
And the hope, that day is longer
To calm this inner noise

The lover is promising many things for the blessed return of his beloved. I read some ups and downs in this relationship. I hope you can calm those inner noises and find peace.

"Weeks felt like months
And time saw many tears" These two lines really gave depth to this nicely penned piece. One can truly emphasize with the poem and find a bit of their own experience within it.
