Plans in A Minor

Plans in A Minor

A Poem by Jesse Harman
"

Iambic pentameter with limited substitutions in the spiritual/emotive mindset of "What Sarah Said" by Death Cab for Cutie.

"

The drummer played his shuffle as the tinny man

Prayed to Father Time. Each prayer

Shorter, more abstract than before.

Heart monitors flutter, a swan song.

Snare and cymbal in constant interplay.

A shade " shadowed breath with machine’s aid.

God abandoned this hospital room

Seamlessly replaced by daytime television

And late evening infomercials.

I am in this room

Observing your labored life, and here

I feel the love the tinny man described.
