Afraid No More

Afraid No More

A Poem by StoriesGuy14

Afraid of the dark, am I?
Nah.
I used to be. But I've learned to adapt to the world where the darkness reigns supreme.

My photographic memory has taken the reigns to master its surroundings. Mind them, really.
The days when "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" were normal to watch,
along with "Goosebumps",
Made sure I was crept out sufficiently.

Then came "Scream", the Wes Craven thriller trilogy,
and Michael Myers' family saga in "Halloween".

Those made me re-fear the dark--
the nightmares and night time settings the Directors ingeniously employed to evoke all the tension-filled terror they desired.

I love the "blank" realm The Dark offers
The sheer feeling of vast, unoccupied space it can deliver.
When the lights go out, all sense of human dominion becomes irrelevant. The darkness becomes king, a trusted companion for good and evil, an ally for all and a realm where almost anything is possible.

We become...afraid..no..more.

Been writing since I was a teenage kid. Somehow, someway just picked up a notebook, found a pen, started writing things and have never really stopped. It's a passion, hobby, ongoing cerebral grind, an.. more..
