They were still there, of course, and would be after each and every single ride. However, when it came time to hitting that road, Alan Rolland knew he wasn't just aboard his trusted wheeler Phocus, he was carrying the weight of Sarah Hillman, the patient suffering from Alzheimer's he volunteered to sponsor in his build-up to the MS spring showcase. Each training session, be it a couple of blocks' trip around the neighborhood, the weekend group cycling excursion, or the Trails across the city he'd found through various trips, was important. Each one had purpose.
