The Lure

The Lure

A Poem by Jason Galliger

A moment

Breathe stirs

Heart flutters

The rhythm inside tells you to hurry

But you cant help but drink

The azure haze of her eyes

The fluffy brown curls

The subtle curve beneath the shoulders

You want to reach out and stoke her hair

But like a china doll

She breaks at first grasp

An olive branch in a field of daffodils

Your hand stays a moment

Not wanting to break beauty’s grasp

But you can’t help the beast inside

His fur bristles at every gasp and sigh

You try to rein him in but only the fiery touch

Can bring the man forth again.
