9:48 A.M.A Poem by Jason Galligerwhat happens the morning after9:48 A.M. Fanta sunrise Drips through the shades Painting the walls in geometrics Outside the cool mountain air slowly simmers, building to mid-day boil I Lay cross-wise in an endless daze While memories of last night flutter past like playing cards The iron grip of pain and confusion creeps up my sheets But is overridden by the urge to pee I Rise, and while I stand over the rim The left side of my dehydrated brain says to the right side, “What the hell happened?” The right side remains mute so I begin my morning © 2010 Jason GalligerReviews
