l'esprit d'inspiration

l'esprit d'inspiration

A Poem by Jason Galliger
"

something you always find but can never keep

"

Elusive-

She slips around the corner

You scurry up the sidewalk

Weaving through foot traffic

Just to try and get another glimpse

Starbucks cups go flying out of your path

The New York Times takes flight

migrating towards the sewer grate

You make it to the intersection

Only to be stopped by the red hand of doom

And potential death by taxi

Yet, as you search across the street

You find her lounging lazily against the wall

Her long wavy hair swaying in the wind

Like streams of consciousness

Suddenly the light turns green

And you cross

Only to find she’s disappeared once again

Waiting to be found on some other corner.

Why does this keep evoking images of a film noir, primarily involving some kind of hooker in seductive red? Love it.

This piece feels like a movie, the datails, I like how you placed them, I felt like a longing feeling as I read this. Great job.

This flowed very well and had great imagery also. The title of this poem fits perfectly.

loved the way you used the words to describe this seen. Really simple idea but put together eloquently.

I really enjoyed this. Loved how it flowed so perfectly and the longing of the character trying to catch this girl was so perfectly expressed.
Her long wavy hair swaying in the wind

"Like streams of consciousness
Suddenly the light turns green
And you cross
Only to find she’s disappeared once again
Waiting to be found on some other corner."

This has got to be my favorite part of the poem. I really liked this :D

Much enjoyed the expressive delights found here. This can be thought of both literally as an elusive chase after that special someone, or metaphorically as the chase for something that constantly eludes us, such as an idea. Nicely written.

the elusive nymph beautifully inlaid into a modern day moment of possibilities if only she'd stay still for but a moment to engage~much enjoyed~ loved your surreal metaphors~ this stanza being my favorite . . . .

Starbucks cups go flying out of your path

The New York Times takes flight

migrating towards the sewer grate
