A Choice

A Choice

A Poem by Jason Galliger

The world and what you make of it are never certain

The clock keeps turning no matter how many times you want to cry out “STOP!”

Fragments of memory seem bathed in the black and white

But upon retrospection they seem to simmer to grey subterfuge

And you curse the cruelty of the demon in possession of your mind

Asking, “why does rationality work only on paper?”

Cause when you add in the dynamic of the human interaction

Everything falls to s**t

Nothing is granted, everything permitted

Reality is an illusion

War is Peace

Politicians are movie stars

“When will this chaos abate to stillness?”

you ask to the empty sky

and in reply

you only get empty sky

and a sense of

nothing-will-ever-matter-again-so-why-should-i-try kinda thing

then you smile and remember that this state of being is only temporary

you’ll forget all about when the next best thing comes along

or you can wait till you die

the choice is yours

you should try putting nothingwillevermatteragainsowhyshoulditry as nothing-will-ever-matter-again-so-why-should-I-try to make it be one word. This left aside, excellent work.
