I Don't Know How to Say Goodbye

I Don't Know How to Say Goodbye

A Poem by Jessica Renee

I don’t know how to say goodbye .

I guess I could name you all individually.

One.

By.

One.

But that would take me a lifetime that I don’t have.

And anyways goodbye is such a final and disheartening word.

I’ll see all of you again someday.

Some will appear before my very eyes.

And some in dreams and memories.

Memories of cotton fortresses,

Of game-winning goals,

Of winding walks in the park,

Of nights at the movies,

Of bike rides to the store,

Of dancing and Christmas lights

You see, It doesn’t really matter if I say

who did what and when.

Because you all taught me the same thing.

How to be me.

You taught me how to think and how to write,

How to be happy and how to live,

How to love and how to imagine,

How to laugh and how to cry.

And I thank you every minute of every day,

You never taught me how to say

goodbye.

I'll never know what the good is, in goodbye..

wonderfully done.. saying farewell to someone is like losing a part of yourself..

This is very good. I love how original and how powerful this is. I hate goodbyes too.
