LAST GLIMPSEA Poem by JB MurrayAbout death, about life...LAST GLIMPSE By: JB Murray © feb 2010 God I have forgotten how beautiful she is I’ve forgotten how she simply radiates With all life around her I’m staring up The sun is playing games with the clouds I get a brief blanket of warmth on my face Before amber glow hides again So cold while she’s hiding A breeze now Sudden Short Too cooling and I feel it across my dry, cracked lips But my mouth won’t open And I cannot inhale those sweet tastes of early spring She is still there So beautiful She is crying I could have been a better man I could have been a better lover How we forget Take for granted All those things that make us human All those things that make us alive I can sense it before it comes Like a smell on the wind But there is no wind No smell But it is here anyway The soft, slow drizzle of the rain Delicately falling on my face Rolling off my eyes and down my cheeks Like so many tears In my mind I shiver Even my arms wrapped across my chest Like some lovers embrace Cannot keep we warm And then she turns to go Once last glimpse And I beg her from so very far away to please, please just stay Just a while longer The sound of metal, digging, harsh and grating And then the dirt falls all around me And in this new bed I lay, sleep… © 2010 JB Murray |
