FIREWORKS…

We are all but lost

The lakes and oceans of hope

And dreams and imagination

Now only puddles of regret

Regurgitated from the belly of ignorance

But still we pushed on

Oblivious? No.

Just pretending not to see

Turning our backs as if the wrongs were

Hidden long enough in the shadows

Everything would be just fine

Fools

Each and every one of us

Dreamers without purpose

Faltering through the sands of time

Tripping

Stumbling

Like some blind, deaf, dumb child of yesterdays

Holding on to whispers

And she comes to me

Sits beside

Rests her head on my shoulder

Her eyes long since shut to the peeling paint

Of the world’s canvas

Scarred and red

This is our fault also

And she kisses my cheek

And asks me

Almost child-like

So innocent

Have the fireworks begun yet?

And I look towards the fire

Towards the cloud

Towards the scorching truth

And I say yes my love

The fireworks have just begun

The end is so very near…
