Frayed DreamsA Poem by Kallima
It’s that exact moment when you know you are aware but you’ve stopped dreaming and don’t want to open your eyes
You begin to realize
This is no longer a dream
You want to touch and hold it in your grasp
If for no other reason; that in this life we dream of the things we lack
Not so much of the uncertainties we carry on our backs
For those are so called nightmares
Spells cast over our cerebral slumber
Unnamed terrors chasing us down passageways of endless doors; each entrance opening a different obscenity
Unfasten your eyes and these are our realities
Your nightmare is my dream and my dream is yet to be
reality
Grasping at the spider silk of sleep in my eye I hold
tight to my dream world;
Knowing this un-reality is quickly fraying like so many
scarves I’ve knit and purled
Hold tight dream girl
You will wake soon enough and when the
silk slips through your waking fingers,
Languish in the morning dawn and know
you basked in the moonlight
But now it’s time to open your eyes
and take in the sunrise with delight
