Sun Shower

Sun Shower

A Poem by Kallima
"

Do the sun and the sunflower engage in a love affair?

"

How does the sunflower feel at night?
At dusk, closing her petals as if embracing the light
  She is engaging the day
Mourning and dreaming until they
Are reunited at the break of dawn
  This cycle forever goes on
Until their time has passed
Romancing each other every day as long as it lasts
Never-ending; the sun enhances her beauty
This is his duty
Showering her with rain and sweet morning dew
It’s the least he can do to satisfy his love from above
She reaches high with her face open toward his
Ready to receive his sun kiss
As she feels each drip, she begins to reverberate
Every leaf tremble and shake
Semi sonic sunrays fill her up with a haze
Sending pulses, firing her roots ablaze
Arching up to the surface, creating new causeways
Exploding water throughout her fibers until
Nature takes over the process of conversion into chlorophyll
She smiles up at her sun in satisfaction
And he beams back at her, gauging her reaction
Wishing they could touch in a physical way
Reveling in this generous day
Knowing when night comes, they will have a separation
So she mentally starts her preparation
For night, keeping her sun always in her sight
She bids adieu to her love as he fades from her with the twilight
When this day is at last done
They both have won
 She and the Sun
