Clarity of Mind

Clarity of Mind

A Poem by Kallima
"

I think most writers have this moment of the day, whatever your time of day may be. Mine are the early morning hours and the moments just before sleeping...

"

There is clarity before dawn's beams have awoken,

Before one word is spoken.

When one's mind is still filled with the night's unremembered dreams

And one has had a chance to plot the day's schemes.

These hours bring inspiration

And poetic contemplation.

Brought on in part by solitude,

Allowing one ample chance for gratitude

For all God's gifts to His creatures

Or a chance to study one's own features.

As the minutes fleet and escape,

One can not seem to recreate,

That sense of clarity;

Or at least not me.

My mind has begun to get clouded,

The business of life has gotten my mind shrouded.

Until early evening when the day is done,

And the search for clarity once again has begun.
