There must be something about a good thing.
Something that causes us to snap.
Even if we say we want a good thing.
We'll push it, we'll stretch it out as far as it can go.
We'll set fire to it to see if it burns.
We'll lean up against it when we're weak,
then curse it for being strong enough to support us
When it eludes us, we seek it's refuge.
When sheltered by it, we're constrained.
Rather than be satisfied, we'll seek out another shelter.
Not neccesarily a better shelter, or one that will be as warm.
Just a different one.
We know that it wont' go anywhere.
It's easy to take for granted the things that are the closest to us.
The pillars in our lives.
After all..that's what they are there for, right?
They are there for us.
But every pillar needs a fresh coat of paint every so often.
To be sanded down, or re calibrated.
And yes..sometimes..
when we're not looking..
a pillar can bleed.
