The Cynic

The Cynic

A Poem by Jay M. Jones

Cynic....

JMJ
.. ..

He took his first step to a brighter future.

He took his vitamins this morning, and brushed his teeth.

He walked to work.

He called his mother.

He said good morning to his doorman,

He held the door open for the nice lady in apt 5g

He Paid off all of his bills, and opened a savings account.

He Read a book.

He Ate his daily suggested serving of vegetables

He stopped to smell the pretty flowers in the convenience store on his way home

He went to bed early so he could wake up early and eat whole grain cereal…no cofee.

He looks down at the street below, from the roof.

All the ants

All the ants

He lifts his foot,

He takes his second step to a brighter future.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What an ending! Didn't see that coming. This is simplistically brilliant. And to think I wasn't going to read anything tonight except my read requests. Glad I did. Going in my favorites. Just fantastic. What a trip. Although, I guess it wouldn't really be a trip, but more of a self-inflicted fall. Kudos.
