Observations

Observations

A Poem by j.l. luna
"

Not a permanent title. This came from a journal entry I entitled "observations" but have yet to come up with an appropriate title.

"
In the summertime
I lay restless in the heat
it leaves burns on my skin
and a dryness in my throat
I stop remembering who I am

In a way, it's cleansing
I stop guessing
how many stars are in the sky
I stop counting
how many steps it takes to get home
I just am

My eyes plead for darkness
a room full of it, they beg
Five more minutes, I say
we must appreciate what we have
before it is too late
The sands of time do not change
We are stuck in perpetual motion,
you will not be saved

When autumn comes
I am relentless
I drink every kind of tea there is
I read every book, twice
I no longer hate the air
Breathing is simple
But I begin to count my steps again
measuring time in teaspoons
How much to make a life?
I succumb too soon
I can't sleep at night
because I am mapping out the sky
with a bright blue pen
and the irises of my eyes
