The Ties That BindA Poem by jumbie's #1 fanthis i wrote for my future daughter (if i had one). this is the mother i would be.I know that you hurt And I know how you feel I know you hear this all the time But this time it's real
I've had the heartbreak And I've experienced the pain I know what it feels to wish you were dying I've spent many nights endlessly crying
I will not belittle you Or tell you I have too much to do
I will not ignore you Or push you away You can remain in my arms For as long as you want to stay
You're so beautiful in every single way Even though you might feel worthless today
I may not always know why you're stressed Or the troubles that you're facing That's why in your heart, This is what I'm placing
A tie so strong To bind you to me Those days when I won't Be able to wipe those tears Those days when I can't Kiss away those fears
A tie so full of hope That you will choose life Instead of a rope
I know the choices you will meet And the temptations you may not beat You're going to make mistakes little one, But behind those gloomy eyes Lies the sun I will help you correct those mistakes Mending them for as long as it takes
And when you grow up You can tell your children About these ties that bind
So close to your heart, you will find An unconditional and irrevocable love From your mother and our Creator above
So take heart, my daughter And spread your wings Because you are strong For you my daughter, My heart sings
