Gray, the New Green

Gray, the New Green

A Poem by Christopher G. Starling
"

just losing more confidence in the image of human nature (i do not believe that there is a true human nature, since i'm an existentialist, but i do believe in that image of mankind, being reconstructed every second -- by every action -- always)

"

Gray, the New Green

Green,

it gets yellow

out there in the white sun.

Life,

it gets isolated

between the cracks in the sidewalk.

Birds,

they ram into buildings

trying to fly through themselves.

Gray,

it only gets blacker

setting at the top of high buildings.

People,

we only get sicker

the more we forget we’re only animals

(and we are, you know

 animals—

 not gods.)
