Ash of Tomorrow

Ash of Tomorrow

A Poem by jesthepoet

~Ash of Tomorrow~

The grass-ankle deep. weeds

overtake the flowerbeds.
tapping her pen on the notebook,
weeding the garden, internal.
tangled. choked. deep-rooted
thoughts pulled and eradicated.
The ash of tomorrow.

“Do you think we need more Delphinium?”

Turning-outward. she studies
The Man.
bent over the perennials,
scratching aesthetics out of the soil.
transforming the beds.
inside her, as well.
sweat. muscle. bone. flesh.
Ash of tomorrow.
The dirt, under his nails,
endearing him.
