On this fine sun rise, at Aluva, home land of dad's

I offered prayers in the form of Tarpan, at the Shiva temple, on the banks of river Periyar, of Aluva, near Ernakulam, he arrived and recieved the prayers which would stop him from entering into puunaga narakam, and open the gates to Heaven, but he was already with God, i saw him coming as i was praying, and the crow and pigeons both had the pinda. 

thank you Appa, for receiving our prayers, i was with him and Amma, too while doing prayers with ayyagaru.

There is comfort in prayer and and assurance that loved ones are safe.
I would like to have understood 'puunaga narakam. and 'pinda' and 'ayyagaru'

Punnaga narakam is hell which people go after death based on what they perform when they lived, so son usually does the ritual of tarpan/pinda pradhan the one kind of choru/cooked rice ball, offering in pooja by calling the soul, when the son or daughter does this prayer the soul doesnt go into hell and released to heaven.
Everyone does intentionally or unintentionally mistakes for which we will be punished by God in hell, so usually the kids of that soul.perform this ritual for their father to not get punished.

Pinda is cooked rice ball with sesame seeds,
Ayyagaru is pujari who performs this ritual.

I was glad i could do because i dont know whether he came here to do that ritual, we usually do, and my motherinlaw cant travel, so i did.

And after prayer, we offer that pinda to birds especially, as we feel the soul in the form of crow eats the pinda, so today the crow and pigeon ate the pinda, then it is comfort and makes us feel that pinda has been received by the soul. The soul is not angry on us and happy at heaven who always blesses us.

If the birds doesnt eat then he is not in peace couldnt rest at peace or some desire is unfufilled which makes them feel to finish, for which they dont get into heaven and will be on earth trying to finish or get finished the task.

As i had this ritual, i ate chicken usually we eat nonveg and offer the food to the soul by we eating. Finally one week is finished going back. Feeling like as if i am going to my home though i wont be going to his home atleast i am near to him.
