Mom's Sobs

The first thing I purge

is plot. The story

is not why I felt but how

I felt, how mother wore

a flower-print dress and stood

at the back screen door,

gazing out, while I hammered pegs into plastic,

seated on the kitchen floor,

and didn't see what must have been

her tears,

and didn't hear what must have been

her sobs,

all I knew was pounding the pegs,

trying to shatter the plastic pegs

with a plastic hammer, hard

as his missing calloused hand.

The kid must have sensed the sobs and was not knowing how to wipe off tears. He was indeed watching whether mom is there or not. I can feel how mom hided her tears, not letting out which may hurt her son too.
