Deepest Depths

Deepest Depths

A Poem by Jessica Wood

This poem I wrote for class and we had a picture that the poem was supposed to be about.

Deepest Depths

Why did it have to come to this?

Our life was so perfect

Forever and always you told me

But here I lay battered and bruised

Your hand collided with my face

Sending jolts of pain all around

But I loved you.

And we longed for the day that you change

Here I lay while you are with them

Beating and tearing at their happiness

But I love you so here I shall stay

Longing for the day you were the man I married

I hear your screams and I reach out

Wanting to understand your mind

The way you think and feel

But you wanted me to leave

Your stature is bitter and cold

But you are my one love

And blinded I may be

But never shall I leave this pain

This love is toxic

You are the poison to my life

Drugs don’t compare to what you do to me

But your low is deeper than your high.

This poem screams of dedication and loyalty towards a spouse. Written in confidence, and does not reek in desperation, only contentment. Good read, keep it up!
