There is No Home in Chaos

There is No Home in Chaos

A Poem by Jessica

There is no home in chaos,
In drifters wandering,
My emotions dry like the Sahara,
Because I have no more tears,
For home is not a place,
But an emotional state,
A place to feel safe,
And I have not felt safe in the longest of years,
And I whisper to myself “I want to go home”
But there is no home,
There is no safe,
There is only the eggshells I tread upon,
Fearing that one will crack with every step I take,
And with that crack an explosion of anger will take its place.
And I’m a drifter running in place,
With the burden that no place is safe,
With no safe haven,
Or light to guide my way,
With the anxious fear,
I curl my toes in fear,
Because there is no home in the chaos of anxiety and fear.

Thank you for the comment. I'm rethinking the commas, what other minor issues did you find? I'm glad that you could feel the anxiety in the piece, that what I was really going for. :)

I like this. There are a couple of unnecessary commas and some minor things but this is really comfortable to read and I like the way you start the lines. The foreboding issue is brought out with consistency, making the fear real.

I'm glad I read this.
