"in a distant corner beyond this earth"A Poem by J. B. Tweedwritten for my writer's workshop class... an experiment in the shakespearean sonnetIn a distant corner beyond this earth, Away, past hills and over oceans, There lies the hidden faerie kingdom – its worth And splendid colors veiled to mortal men. Petite inhabitants with silver wings Do flutter as gracefully as bumblebees. Always surrounded by the smells of spring, Their eyes are filled with youth and purity. Their minstrels are the cricket and the lark. Their food, fresh blades of grass and sweet dewdrops. Their faerie dwellings built with stripped birch bark And roofs with acorn chimneys perched atop. But even when viewing such lovliness, To stay with friends is what I’d like the best. © 2008 J. B. Tweed |
