The stage.

The stage.

A Poem by Lady Lazarus.

This is the staled
the stagnate scene
this is the setting
the start of it all

this is the only time
 terror tightens together
 trembles draw me deep
fantasies tear easy of the target

This is the staled
the stagnite scene
this is the setting
the start of it all

forever we'll find
we fancied our chance
forced to fight hard
for things not long since felt

This is the staled
the stagnate scene
this is the setting
the start of it all

every day keeping
to enter the frame
no heart for escape
we eradicate trust

This is the staled
the stagnite scene
this is the setting
the start of it all

Wow, this was emotional, tense, and had lovely wording.

It was in other words, quite beautiful.

well, there are stages, and then there are stages, not to mention those other stages; but if this one is that oft visited eradication of trust, then it's not a stage, it's a merry-go-round...all of which doesn't mean that you are anything less than an excellent poet...but poetry is not a very good hiding place, because there's always some part of you sticking out...

Wonderful tense, vulnerable and the perfect image of the feeling of being a stage actor and of stage fright.
