Her & I.

Her & I.

A Poem by Lady Lazarus.
"

hearing the clock quote in my favourite film withnail & I made me realise a lot of things that made no sense. thats what happens when you watch art comedy films at night before bed :|

"

Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day

though it has no heart beat to stop its face from turning grey

A little girl who saw herself in the mirror watches with sad eyes

Looking at the adult she will be and what It all implies

That girl grown older hangs on to others like a friend ought to do

but then again the young are b******s and she'll find she's something new

genderless and and not quite knowing what feels right

a silly little girl who saw herself one night.....

She's bigger than the other ones who like to kiss the lads

a body with contours that leave the girl real sad

If I could just make my voice go bellow a tremor

I'd like to just smile along with her and maybe even tell her...

The longing that surronds my girl threatens to destroy

any chance of her bashful eyes meeting this thick boy

Come on love and and I'll walk along with you to the place we're going to

The bus is late again as usual but the next might come at two

I loved the above lines because they remind me of who I am and what I'm going through right now. This was beautifully written. I absolutely love your writing style!

"Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day" is my favourite line, sort of genious, I wish I'd thought of it myself. Anyway this is sweet, and well written, the rhyming scheme is nice and subtle too.

Powerful and deeply thought provoking. I read a sense of protectiveness, yet a gentle awareness of a girl becoming a woman. So many thoughts of which direction to go. The metaphor about the clock is brilliant. Yes, even a stopped clock will tell the right time of day, at least twice a day. Something I've never thought of. But so true.

It's brilliant works of art, such as this, that I absolutely love reading. So much left to the imagination to sort out and make sense out of. I wish I had this gift. It's rare and subtle, but speaks to the mind in volumes.
