Carried Away...

Carried Away...

A Poem by Jessie

Carried Away...

Standing in the hall, I heard a soft voice say..

"Don't get caught up, and carried away"

I stood in silence, unsure of what I had heard

and waiting to  hear it again?

Instead came a rustling sound, but it was only the wind

I started toward the front door but something stopped

me in my tracks, I heard the voice again, saying..

"Turn around, and go back".

Go back to where? was my reply. Then it said...

" To the basement, and don't ask why"...

like a little child, I did what I was told

Little did I know what was about to unfold...

The door shut behind me, as I heard the roar of the wind

louder and louder it did descend. I covered my ears as

I fell to the ground.  All I could hear was this awful scream

of a sound. I felt the walls shake as if to give away,

What was happening out side it was too soon to say

I listened as the storm traveled farther and farther away

Until a silence filled the air, it was over and I'm ok.

I stepped outside my back door to find the trailer was

no more. The car could'nt be found, only pieces, of what

was once "Something", was scattered all around.

The storm devoured everything in its path, yet I was

saved by a voice from its wrath. It could have very well

been me that was carried away but instead my life

was spared that day.  If you ever hear a voice come

from out of the blue, carefully take a listen to what

its saying to you.   Dont let the storm carry you away,

listen, and you might live yet another day!
