Should have, Could have, Might have been...

In the dark of the night

I seen your face come into sight

Not knowing what to say

I stood there speechless in dismay

 

I loved you even more now

then I did back then

Always wondering to myself....

What should have, could have,

might have been...

 

Looking deep into your eyes

I felt my body go immobile,

somewhat paralized

 

Realizing I wasn't dreaming

and that you where really

standing there, a state of

confusion came over my mind

along with all its fear

 

The fear of the heartache

once again repeating its course

Knowing how painful it can be

and considering the source

 

Should I, Could I, turn and walk

away? I find it hard to move and

words I cannot say

 

I oftened wondered what I would 

do if this day did arrive

How would I cope with it?

How would I survive?

 

Then I knew when you pulled

me near and held me in your

arms once again..Holding back

the tears, I couldn't hold back the

thought of..... What should have,

could have, might have been..

 

All those years ago, way back when
