New Life

       I never thought of how my life would be when I had a child. Maybe fun or like a hectic scene from a movie where a mom is running for her kids who are jumping and destroying everything in sight. James had left for awhile to get baby stuff for Edith-Lynn then when he returned I tried to explain whose child is this.

 

    “James this is our child.” My voice hallows still trying to convince my self.

 

 “Maredith this cant be our child for one you haven’t even been pregnant!” I hate to try to explain my visions but I had to.

 

“James I had a vision of me running with Edith-Lynn in my hands talking to her and James I just knew she’s yours and mine!” this scene of me running brought back the fears of losing James. Now I might lose this being with whom knows what powers that she has inherited.

 

 “Maredith, do you actually think this is our child?” James face looked astonished with what he has heard.

 

“YES JAMES I do think that actually I know that!” my heart was moving at the pace of a racecar.

 

 “Ok Maredith I understand but how are we going to take care of this child.” His eyes showed that he didn’t really understand but he believed me.

 

 “Well I really don’t know maybe we could get a nanny or ask someone to watch here while we are at school?” I was puzzled I didn’t truly know what I would do. 

 

“I truly don’t think we can leave a halve vampire halve witch with a mortal love.” I didn’t think about how she could be a danger to others non-immortal beings.

 

 “Well what can we do tell her not to bite the nice lady or make her disappear because we will have go to school for six hours.” His face changed like he had a brilliant idea.

 

“That’s it Maredith I’ll quit school and take care of Edith-Lynn while your at school then you’ll go home and I’ll come and get you after your mom goes to sleep.” Then it hit me I didn’t go to school today and I didn’t go home last night I am in so much trouble.

 

“James that is a good idea but what if I fall asleep here again. What will my mom say `its ok I know you have a baby to take care of so miss al the school you want!” his smile faded away and then came a even bigger one.

 

His mind and mine work on the same frequency because I knew he just found his way to tell my mom about the engagement.

 “Well we will have tell Agitha that her daughter is engaged to a vampire.” His grin just about touched his ears when the baby started to cry.

I picked her up and she was hot like she was running a temperature.

 

“James did she feel warm to you when you held her?” he looked at me and shrugged.

 

 “I had her in a blanket so I didn’t feel her, how hot is she?” He hesitated to touch her.

 

 “James what’s the matter?” he touched her head and took it off.

 

 “Yes she is hot.”

 

“James I asked you a question.” He had the mind not in this world look on his face.

 

 “Maredith we just got this beautiful child and now she might slip away.” 

 

“Oh James its ok maybe she was just born like this you know witch and vampire together might equal hot baby.” His face just relaxed immediately.

 

“Ok but we will have to watch her for a few days.”  I left the room to go get my phone, which had started to ring.

 

“MAREDITH LYNN JAMES WHERE ARE YOU I WENT TO YOUR ROOM AND FOUND A NOTE TELLING ME YOU LEFT EARLY FOR SCHOOL BUT YOU NEVER CAME HOME!” I hated when she yelled at me over the phone because you can hear it away from my ear.

 

 “I went over to James after school I’m sorry I didn’t call anyway it is only 4:30.” I looked at my watch. Edith-Lynn had fallen asleep with my necklace in her mouth.

 

 “Maredith you know how I feel about this boy.” She spat the words like she was shouting them at me.

 

“AND YOU KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT HIM!” I rose my voice not remembering that I had Edith-Lynn in my arms, like karma she woke up and was about to cry when my mom said

 

“FINE!” and hung up the phone.

 

“Maredith when do you think we should tell your mom about the engagement?” He had came into the room to pacify Edith-Lynn with in two seconds.

 “You are incredible at handling Edith-Lynn.” I looked at him then at my daughter and I knew that I would never let this go.

 

“I guess maternal instinct.” James face lit up.
