Where Has Love Been

Where Has Love Been

A Poem by Jessica Jean

Where has love been?

On a butterfly’s wings,

In my curtain creases,

Hidden in the pencil case

Of a childhood memory

Buried in the corners of my smile

In the ocean at Jones Beach

Love has been around

Love has been hiding

Love has been flashing himself before me

Then hiding again

Love’s been concealed

In orion’s bright lights,

In the shadows of my toes,

In the corner of a mirror

Behind a white picket fence

Where has love been but everywhere?

I overlook it in sweet, anthem songs,

In the orange falling leaves

In the lips drinking ice water

Where has love been?
