Thunderstorms

Thunderstorms

A Poem by Jessica Jean

Thunder
That wakes me
Some quiet night
Or perhaps
The lightning
And its light
To be half
In dream
And half awake
Thinking I talk
To love
Amid thunder's quake
And outside
The glass
The pouring rain
Like something
Out of
A hurricane
Slashing down
Cutting air
I find comfort
In a voice
Barely even there

I don't mean to spoil your own interpretation of the poem, so read it before this. It's about someone sleeping when a thunderstorm starts. The person is scared of storms, so while they are half awake and half asleep, they sort of dream they are talking to their lover who is telling them not to be afraid of the storm.

Thank you!!
You brilliantly captured the daze of the half dreaming state in these words. Great job!
