Dark Night Thoughts

Dark Night Thoughts

A Poem by Jessica Jean

Would it not be glorious

To sleep in the dark

Where bad things lurk

And monsters mark

Where wandering eyes

See skinny phantoms

Creeping through

The dark night chasms

And every move

From self or other

Sounds like ghost breath

And makes you shudder

Then every horrid

Face you knew

Slips out of mind

To behind you

Sitting alone

So soon you feel

These images start

To become real

A hand or mouth

To come and bite

And drag you away

Into the night

Lifeless eyes

And beatless hearts

Stolen away

By dark night thoughts

This plays right up my alley! Love the imagey, somewhere between fairy tales and something more sinister, more real. You ended the piece almost abruptly, which works great! Are we awakening from a nightmare? or sinking deeper in the dark...! Well done! :)
