Duet

Duet

A Poem by jessicawrites

Hands on white keys, soft eyes on me -
How they smiled with the flow of melodies.
You wished the stars would hold their breath, and the sun would cease to rise.
You said that night should stay forever,
Just you, the piano, and me.

A boyish grin, ear-to-ear; the gentle feel of skin,
Note after note; no scar, no hurt,
In that moment, we’d stay forever,
Just you, the piano, and me

Now, you play your music, and
I know you smile at her; you’d tell her how
The stars would hold their breath, and the sun would cease to rise.

In this moment, you’d stay forever,
Just you, the piano, and her
