Ghost Hearts

Ghost Hearts

A Poem by jessicawrites
"

Instead of screaming for an exist, I'll sing my way out the door.

"
There are ghosts that roam the chambers of my heart.
And when the air tastes of sugar, they tear themselves apart.
Because they're insatiable to misery and long for nothing more
When happiness is so foreign, they don't recognize it at all.

There are songs that roam the chambers of my heart.
And when the melody's become so stale, they tear themselves apart.
Because music is their sanctuary, and they long for nothing more.
When still calm voices become so foreign, they don't recognize it at all.

Because

Instead of screaming for an exit, I can just sing my way out the door.
Because it's better to be dreaming than wailing on the floor.
Instead of struggling 'gainst the currents, I can just swim my way to shore.
Because it's better to be drowning than floating forevermore.
