You Are More

You Are More

A Poem by jessicamarie19

You are more than the sum of your preceding days
Or you would be only a statue amongst torn calendar pages
You are more than the cracks in your veneer of mistakes
Or you would leak when you laughed and leave a trail of tear stains
You are worth more than your vowels in the words you form
Worth more than the lightning in your firestorm
You are more than the body you are desperate to leave
It is only a vessel so that your spirit may breathe
You are more than the diamonds you mine for in your dreams
And more than the accomplishments you pine for with your screams
You’re not measured by a ruler but counted by a Ruler
- An intended stone being polished by your Jeweler
Irrelevant judgments by the jury of your peers
Are worthless to the One who created all your fears
You are more to One even if you are none to fame
For the one who bestowed it will remember your name

Absolutely masterful. “Else” seems unnecessary in the fourth line. I also think that you mean breathe (verb) rather than breath (noun). Otherwise the poem is perfectly executed.

I loved this! A very inspirational and encouraging piece. The rhyming scheme helped with the flow of the poem and kept my attention throughout.

Great work :)
